Welcome back to another Q&A on RRN!

Emerling-Gase Motorsports owner and driver, Joey Gase, let us ask him a few questions about his racing life and more!

1. What are your favorite hobbies outside of the racing world?

JG: Spending time with my wife and Twin boys Carson and Jace

2. What is your favorite racing memory?

JG: That’s a tough one because there are so many but would be between my 5th place finish at Dega with Jimmy Means after Fox did a special on my mom during the Pre race and my first Daytona 500. There is nothing else like it.

3. What is your pre-race routine like or favorite pre-race activities before a race?

JG: Little different now than it used to be now that I am an owner and a dad. Normally I’m busy making sure the cars get through tech, everything and everyone is in place on where they need to be for the race. Any pre race Sposnor appearances and then after all that it’s normally time to race lol. Race weeks I try to drink only water, sport drinks, and juices.

4. Who was your racing idol growing up?

JG: First and foremost, my dad. I loved helping him work on his cars and going out every Friday night to race. On the Nascar side, Kenny Schrader and Rusty Wallace. The thing I loved about Kenny is that no matter what the car or where he loved to race.

5. What is it like competing in NASCAR and owning your own Xfinity Series team at the same time?

JG: It’s a ton work but a blast. Though I have almost always raced for teams where we normally couldn’t race super aggressive it definitely makes you think a little more knowing if you bump a guy hard enough that you may have to spend a couple thousand dollars to replace the nose lol. One of the things I am really proud of is that for the most part I am running better in my own equipment than I have racing for other teams in the past.

5. If you could have 1 sponsor onboard for a race, who would it be and why?

JG: Donate Life/ my OPO (Organ Procurement Organization) partners. This is something that is very important to my family and I but wish we could do it more. Would be amazing if we could find a corporation come in and help pay the Sponsorship for them like Lilly did with the American Diabetes Association.

6. If you could make a race track and had an unlimited budget, what would you name the track and what type of track would it be?

JG: “The drivers Track” it would be a mixture of Iowa Speedway, Richmond and Martinsville. I love flat short track racing and the way you have to drive the car. The finesse you have to have with the throttle and the brake pedal.

7. What has been your favorite paint scheme you’ve run in NASCAR?

JG: That’s a really tough one but would be between 3. My throwback in Darlington to my dads championship paint scheme, Sam Bass scheme, and the scheme when we honored Davey Allison when Nascar and his widow let us run the 28.

8. Have you had a favorite teammate to race against?

JG: Patrick Emerling lol

9. What are your goals this year for EGM and plans for the team for 2024?

JG: To finish top 30 in points with both cars and get another top 10 finish. 2024- Run another 2 car program, run regularly in the top 20, and have one full time driver in one of the cars.

10. Where we will see you race next this year?

JG: Pocono!
